- Counts toward the Practical Pro badge.
The big things to remember
- Safety first, always. You can refuse a task you believe is unsafe.
- Wear your PPE at all times on the job site. No PPE = no work.
- Report incidents — even small ones. Hiding an injury can hurt you later.
- Speak up. If you see a danger, tell your supervisor immediately.
- Drugs and alcohol at work are not allowed. Random testing is common.
Warning: In Australia, an injury at work that is not reported can become much worse — both for your health and for any worker's compensation claim.
What is a "white card"?
The white card is a basic safety certificate that every worker on a construction site in Australia must have. It is a one-day course you take after you arrive, or in some cases online before. Your employer will help you book it.
