What Happens After You Apply

You have tapped Apply. What now? This article walks you through what to expect in the days and weeks that follow.

Right after you apply

  • The job moves to your Applications page in the Application stage.
  • You earn 50 points for your first job application — and a Go-Getter badge.
  • The employer can now see your profile, OES score, and documents.

You do not need to do anything else right away.

In the next few days

  • The employer or Cirrus reviews your profile.
  • You may get a task added to your application — for example, "Upload your NBI Clearance" or "Take the Skills Assessment".
  • Open any task right away. The faster you finish it, the faster your application moves forward.

In the next 1–4 weeks

  • You may move from Application to Qualifying to Evaluation. See The 6 stages of your application explained.
  • You may be invited to:
    • A video interview.
    • An AI Interview Screening (a smart interview tool that helps employers review you).
    • Record a Work Video showing your skills.

Tip: Practice with the AI Interview Simulator before any real interview. It is free and helps you feel ready.

After the interview

  • The employer takes time to compare candidates. This can take days or weeks. Be patient.
  • Your application may move to Selection.
  • If you are chosen, you will see new tasks for visa, medical, and contract.

Notifications you will receive

You will get an email or in-app notification when:

  • Your application moves to a new stage.
  • A new task is added.
  • An employer or Cirrus sends a message.
  • A document is approved or rejected.

Tip: Install the portal on your phone so you do not miss any notification — see Installing the portal on your phone.

What if I do not hear back?

  • Check the Applications page for any open tasks or messages.
  • Read the application status — if it says Inactive, the position has been closed.
  • Apply to other jobs in the meantime. Many candidates apply to several jobs before getting hired.

Can I cancel an application?

Yes. Open the application and tap Withdraw. You can always reapply later if a similar job is posted again.
