What is Trade Testing?
Trade Testing is a practical assessment used to evaluate your hands-on skills and competency in your trade before employment.
Trade Testing is a practical assessment designed to measure your technical skills, trade knowledge, and ability to carry out the tasks required in your specific trade.
Unlike document-only evaluations, Trade Testing focuses on your real, hands-on capability to complete work to recognised industry standards.
Why is Trade Testing required?
Trade Testing helps confirm that:

- Your experience aligns with industry standards
- You can perform trade tasks safely and competently
- Employers can be confident in your practical abilities
How does Trade Testing work?
The assessment may include:
- Completing practical tasks related to your trade
- Demonstrating correct use of tools and equipment
- Following safety procedures
- Answering technical questions
Testing may be conducted in person at an approved assessment centre or through an authorised testing provider.
What happens after the test?
- Your results will be reviewed and verified.
- If you pass, you will move to the next stage of your application.
- If further training or reassessment is needed, your Recruitment Officer will guide you on the next steps.
