Using the Cover Letter Generator
A cover letter is a short note you send with your job application that tells the employer why you are the right person for the job. The Cover Letter Generator builds one for you in a minute.
When you need a cover letter
- When a job ad asks for one.
- When you want your application to stand out.
- When you have a special story to tell (for example, you have a relative in Australia or you have visited the country before).
You do not always need a cover letter — but having one rarely hurts.
How to use the generator
- Sign in to the portal.
- Open the Tools page.
- Tap Cover Letter Generator.
- Choose the job you want to apply to from your list (or paste in the job description).
- The generator writes a draft based on your resume and the job details.
- Read the draft.
- Edit anything you want — names, dates, examples.
- Tap Save or Download.
What you can edit
- Your opening sentence — make it personal.
- The examples of your work — you know your stories best.
- The closing line — show enthusiasm.
Tip: Always read the draft and make small changes. A cover letter that sounds 100% like a robot is easy to spot — and not as strong as one with a personal touch.
How long should a cover letter be?
Short. About 3 to 4 short paragraphs, less than one page. Employers do not want to read a long story.
Tips for a great cover letter
- Use the employer's name if you know it ("Dear Mr Smith") instead of "Dear Sir/Madam".
- Mention the job title in the first paragraph.
- Give one or two specific examples of work you have done that match the job.
- Say why you want to work overseas — give a real reason, not just "for money".
- End with thanks and your contact details.
Can I use the same cover letter for every job?
You can, but a tailored letter does much better. The generator makes it easy — even one or two changes per job make a big difference.
