Preparing for International Interview

This course goes deeper than the basic interview course. It teaches you what is different about an international interview — and how to make a great impression on a foreign employer.

What you will learn

  • How interviews work in Australia and New Zealand.
  • What employers there expect (clear English, on-time arrival, polite eye contact).
  • How to answer questions about your visa status and willingness to relocate.
  • How to handle video interviews — camera, lighting, sound.
  • What to do if you do not understand a question.

Course format

  • Short reels you can watch on your phone.
  • A short quiz at the end.
  • Takes about 20–30 minutes.

How to take it

  1. Open the Courses page.
  2. Tap Preparing for International Interview.
  3. Watch the reels in order.
  4. Take the quiz to finish.

Points and badges

  • Earns OES points when you finish.
  • Counts toward the Interview Pro badge along with Ace Your Interview.

Tips for international interviews

  • Time zones — confirm the interview time in your local time and the employer's local time.
  • Internet — use the strongest connection you have. A wired connection is best.
  • Background — sit in a quiet place with a clean background. Avoid your bedroom if possible.
  • Light — face a window or a lamp. Do not have a bright light behind you.
  • Listen — if you do not catch a question, it is okay to say, "Could you please repeat that?"

Tip: Practise once with the AI Interview Simulator before any real international interview. It listens to your answers and gives you a CEFR English level.
