Your Passport is the most important document for working overseas. You cannot leave the country without it. Upload it as early as you can.
What you need
- A valid Philippine passport.
- At least 18 months of validity remaining at the date you plan to travel. Many countries require this — Australia and New Zealand both do.
- The page that has your photo, full name, date of birth, passport number, and expiry date.
How to get or renew a passport
- Book an appointment at the DFA website (passport.gov.ph).
- Bring your old passport (if renewing) or birth certificate (if new).
- Pay the fee and have your biometrics taken.
- Pick up your passport on the date given.
How to upload it
- Open the Documents page.
- Tap Passport.
- Tap Upload and choose a clear photo or scan of the photo page.
- Make sure all the corners are visible and the text is sharp.
- Tap Save.
Tip: Place the passport flat and open. Take the photo from directly above. Avoid using the flash — it usually causes glare.
What if my passport is about to expire?
- Renew it as soon as you can. Even if your application is in early stages, processing takes time.
- Once you have the new passport, upload the new photo page to the portal. The portal will replace the old file.
Why it might be rejected
- The photo is blurry or part of the page is cut off.
- The passport is expired or expires soon.
- The name on the passport does not match the name on your portal profile.
- The wrong page was uploaded — for example, an empty visa page instead of the photo page.
Keeping your passport safe
- Make a digital copy and store it somewhere safe (such as your email).
- Take a photo of the back of the passport too — it has the address page.
- Never give your physical passport to anyone except the recruiter handling your visa, your employer, or an immigration officer.
