Applications & Interviews FAQ

Common questions about applying, interviewing, and waiting for a result.

How many jobs can I apply to?

We recommend applying to a maximum of three (3) jobs that closely match your skills, qualifications, and experience.

Applying to jobs that are relevant to your background gives you the best chance of success. Once you have applied, the Cirrus team may also consider you for other suitable opportunities that match your profile.

Quality applications are better than applying to many jobs that do not fit your experience.

Should I apply to a job even if I do not match every requirement?

It depends. If you meet most of the key requirements, especially the relevant trade, occupation, or work experience, it is usually worth applying.

However, if you are missing a mandatory requirement, such as a licence, qualification, or certification specifically required for the role, it may be better to focus on opportunities that match your current credentials.

Will applying to many jobs improve my chances?

Not necessarily.

Applying only to jobs that genuinely match your skills and experience is usually more effective than applying to many unrelated positions. Multiple unsuitable applications may result in unsuccessful outcomes and can make it harder for employers to identify the opportunities that best fit your profile.

Our team will also help match you with suitable employers based on your qualifications and experience.

How will I know if I have an interview?

You will receive a notification through the portal and, in most cases, an email with the date, time, and interview details.

Check your Applications page regularly so you do not miss important updates.

What should I wear to an interview?

For video interviews, wear clean and professional clothing, such as a collared shirt, polo shirt, or work attire appropriate to your occupation.

Avoid sleeveless tops, distracting patterns, or large logos. Present yourself as you would on your first day of work.

What if I miss an interview?

Contact your Cirrus representative as soon as possible and explain the situation.

Employers may allow interviews to be rescheduled, but repeated missed interviews can affect future opportunities. Always inform us if you cannot attend.

Can I ask questions during an interview?

Yes. Employers appreciate candidates who show genuine interest in the role.

Examples include:

  • What does a typical day look like?
  • What would I be doing during my first few months?
  • What are the company's expectations for this role?
  • What are the next steps in the recruitment process?

Questions about salary and benefits are welcome, although some employers may prefer to discuss them during later stages of the process.

What does "Inactive" mean on my application?

It means the application is no longer active.

This may happen because:

  • The position has been filled.
  • The employer has paused or closed recruitment.
  • Another candidate was selected.
  • Your profile was not the best match for that particular role.

An inactive application does not prevent you from being considered for other opportunities.

How long does it take to hear back after an interview?

Every employer has a different hiring process.

Some decisions are made within a few days, while others may take several weeks. We will update you as soon as we receive feedback from the employer.

What if I receive a job offer?

Congratulations.

Before accepting, make sure you understand the role, location, salary package, and employment conditions.

If the opportunity aligns with your career goals and personal circumstances, we encourage you to make a timely decision. Overseas opportunities can change quickly based on employer needs, visa requirements, and workforce demand.

Candidates who are ready and committed often progress through the process faster than those who delay their decision.

Can I withdraw an application?

Yes. Open the application and select Withdraw.

Withdrawing an application will not affect your profile, and you may still be considered for other suitable opportunities in the future.
